The XVItron lights up with static for 5 seconds... Click... A XVI logo pulses briefly on the screen before it is replaced with a VNB logo... Click... The XVItron fades in to the newly self proclaimed "Champion Of Champion's throne room, Decorated as exquisitely as ever, However even though there are more decorations, The room seems different. Some things... All things... Every reminder of "The Morningstar", Johnny Mental, Seem to be now missing...
There are no tables covered with food. The dozens of servants that are normally milling about are gone. In their places, In addition to the usual design aesthetics of the room, Are various display cases which are filled with artifacts from the years gone by.
As the camera pans around the room, We are treated to visually stunning pieces. The first display unit features an ancient Roman soldier in full armor brandishing an incredibly sharp-looking sword. In the case next to it, A soldier aiming a bow with a flaming arrow into the sky. The next case shows a gladiator brandishing chains against a lion in the Coliseum.
The camera passes around the room behind the throne where a huge wall painting depicts a war setting. As we get to the other side of the room, An actual catapult used in old times sits on the floor. On the wall next to it, A display case stands filled with over a dozen different swords and various other striking weapons used in close combat. As you continue to gaze about the room. It appears that their is some sort of artifact from every war ever fought, Displayed proudly in this large throne room! But perhaps most noticeable, Once again... There are now two thrones, That sit side by side one another located on the grand stage. And upon one of those thrones sits none other than... Jihad "The Devil" Sullivan, Draped in a large red cloak...
Jihad, Sits upon his throne, Simply staring forward with his cold black eyes seemingly focused on... Nothing. It is now that stepping into the picture is XVI's very own announcer extraordinare, Scott Logan.
Scott looks about the room for a moment, As if to take in all the splendor. And then finally, He makes his way to where he is now standing next to Jihad and...
Scott ~ First off Mr. Sullivan, Let me officially welcome you back to The XVI.
Jihad just simply nods his head and...
Jihad ~ Thank you Scott, It is good to be back.
Scott ~ I guess the first question I should ask you, Is perhaps the most obvious. Why now? Just months ago, You told us all the you were happily retired, And had no plans whatsoever of making an in ring return.
Jihad ~ Well quite obviously Scott, Things changed... You see, Let me explain this to you. When I announced my retirement, The reason I did so was I had became completely and utterly bored with Professional Wrestling. I mean, My thinking was... What more could I do? Defeat Corpse, Again? Defeat Richard's and Mental again? No... I had nothing left to prove, No more great challenges. Yes... I thought about perhaps making a run at The Tag Team Championship. However, I could never really find the right partner to compliment me. So, Having grown bored... I retired. I tried my hand at several different things. I ran my own federation. I even entertained the thought of managing. However, I could never find anything to take care of that "itch" I had, To be in the ring. So... Quite frankly, I was stuck in limbo.
Next to Jihad's throne sits a small table, With a very large goblet sitting on top of it. Jihad takes it in his hand, Takes a small drink from it, And then continues.
Jihad ~ And with all that, Johnny Mental had made a mockery of The VNB. And quite frankly, I then decided that my retirement... Would be final. However, Like I said, Things change. Just by pure chance, One night I was watching XVI programming, And I so happened to see Szaban. While watching the interview, I thought to myself, It was such a shame, I never faced him. You see, A win over Szaban, Would just add to my legacy of being the greatest Professional Wrestler... Ever.
And again, While watching Szaban yammer on and on. I thought back to something a promoter had told me years ago. That a match pitting Sullivan versus Szaban, Would be nothing short of a "Dream Match". And it was then, The fire was back. Quite honestly, All I was interested in, Was once again... Hurting people. So, I went to Makaveli, Pitched him the idea. And I guess you can say that was that...
Scott nods his head while listening intently to Jihad. He then quickly moves on to the next question...
Scott ~ You are taking this match very personnel aren't you?
Jihad simply grins at that question, And then lays his goblet back on the table...
Jihad ~ You have no idea how personnel I am taking this. Truth be told, The XVI World Championship means very little to me. You see, A win over Sullivan, Or a win over Szaban, Is worth much more than any Championship. In fact, When I pitched this idea to Makaveli, I made no mention of this match being for Szaban's Championship. That was all Makaveli's idea... Apparently, Mak's hate for Szaban runs most deep. And Mak knows, I am just the man to take that Championship away from Szaban...
The funny thing about this match, I really feel as if there will be no loser. You see, Both Szaban and I have accomplished so much in this sport, Our legacy is pretty well set in stone win, lose or drawl. I mean the loser of this match, He will be remembered as losing this match, But he will be remembered as winning damn near every other match he has been in... However... The winner of this match. Oh yes... To the winner of this match most certainly goes the spoils. The winner of this match will get to say, I defeated the great Matt Szaban, Or the great Jihad Sullivan... Let me tell you Scott, That is huge... They can say, I defeated the most popular wrestler in the history of the sport. Or they can say, I defeated the most hated in the history of the sport. The winner of this match, Will be known as a God... Where as the loser, Will simply be known as "that guy", Who was a really good wrestler. Scott... I promise you, I will not be known as "that guy"... I will be the God.
Scott ~ Do you consider this to be the biggest match of your career?
Jihad pauses for a long moment, As if that question caught him by surprise. Jihad then looks at Scott, He smiles and...
Jihad ~ That a damn good question... I would say, It is one of the top two. My first match with Richards, It was very important. There was a lot at stake in that match. This match with Szaban, I would rate right up there with this one. With this match, I have to proof, I still have it. I am still as great as I was three years ago. Yes, This is a very important match...
You must understand Scott, From my era... I have defeated them all, All the greats... Richards, Nirvana, Hart, Corpse, Mental... I have beat them all. But even more so than that... I have yet to take a loss, From any of these people... Not one. For me, To defeat Szaban, I can say... I defeated all the very best from my era, Without facing a loss. Again Scott, That is huge. And love me, Or hate me... It would solidify my place as the greatest Professional Wrestler... Of my era.
Scott ~ In your recent face to face showdown with Szaban. You mentioned the name of Rachel and Answer. Now, It is very well documented that you have had your trouble with both of these individuals. Do you think they will pose any type of obstacle in your match with Szaban...
Jihad abruptly laughs, And then just simply shrugs...
Jihad ~ I have absolutely no idea. Truth be told, At this moment I have no idea what Szaban's relationship with Answer or Rachel even is. However, What I do know is this... Answer and I, Have always had our problems with one another since I captured my first World Championship from him. And quite easily as I remember. I also know, That Answer and Szaban have always been tight with one another... And as far as Rachel goes. This woman, Is perhaps the most untrustable woman in the sport. I mean, Let met think... One, Two.. Three........ Five times, She has turned on me. I don't know, I guess I always had a soft spot for her, Really cant tell you why. But regardless, She has turned her back either on myself, Fade, Or The VNB on five occasions. Twice for Szaban, Twice for Answer, And once for Raven. All I can say is this, If either of them feel the need to stick their noses in my business, I will more than happy to rip their noses, Off their faces....
Scott ~ Fair enough. Now, This next question may seem somewhat random to you. And perhaps it is seeing that I am not even sure of the status of this woman with The XVI. But however, I am sure you have noticed... That one Ally Allen has been spotted here with Rachel. Will she prove to be a distraction?
With the mention of her name, Jihad abruptly stands and walks very slowly around his throne. He then removes his cloak, And once again takes a seat. Then, For what seems like an eternity, Jihad simply sits upon his throne, And stares off into space... As if thinking back to days gone long by. And then, Finally...
Jihad ~ I have to confess, There was a time, When I really thought that Ally... Would be The Queen Of The VNB... My Queen. This was so long ago, Not many people remember that I was once at war with none other than... The VNB. Yes, Fade and I were at odds, And he took control of The VNB. And I started my own stable by the name of The Dark Carnival.. Yes, Ally stood right at my side, Through all of this. The greatest loss of my career, Once again... Ally stood by my side. And then... Like a flash of lightening in the night... She was gone. Much like myself, Ally had her own demons that she needed to deal with. However, I never truly knew why she just simply vanished. I tried to find her, Hell... I used every resource that The VNB had at their disposal. But it was to no avail... She was just simply, Gone. When I found out she was here, In The XVI, I damn near swallowed my tongue. But regardless, That was long ago. I am sure she has moved on, And I know... I most certainly have. If she is within The XVI, She will be of no distraction to me.
Scott ~ Ok Mr. Sullivan, Last question. In your recent showdown with Szaban, You mentioned something to the effect of, You are not here alone and that Fade Gordy was no longer with you. Now, There are rumors swirling about backstage, Between promoters and all over the internet wrestling rumor sites that you and The Dark Halo herself, Have put together some sort of Unholy Union together, Would those rumors be true
Before answering, Jihad leans back upon his throne, Crosses his arms, And simply smiles a very large smile. And then, Finally...
Jihad ~ The Unholy Union, I like that... I like that a lot. The King and Queen Of The Night as The Unholy Union, I will certainly have to remember that one. But to your question Scott, All will be reviled all in good time. At the moment, All The XVI need to concern their self with is paying Szaban's medical compensation and hospital bills for all the work he will be missing after this match with myself. I promise you all, It will be bloody, It will be painful to watch. I suggest all you Szaban fans either make you way to Highway To Hell, Or buy it on Pay Per View. Because after that fateful night, Szaban will never be the same again. Hell, You wont even recognize him... And I again promise you all, You are now gazing upon the next XVI, World Heavyweight Champion.
Scott ~ Mr. Sullivan, Good luck in your upcoming match and thank your for your time. And fans be sure to order The Pay Per View "Highway To Hell" now! This will most certainly be a match for the ages! Now, Lets kick it back to XVI programming...
And on that note, The scene then fades to black...
End Scene.
