| That look was priceless, don't let me get carried away .. |
Twas the night after Fool's Revenge when all through the house,
not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
The paintings were hung upon the walls with care,
in hopes that 'he' would deem them worthy to be there.
Those two were nestled all snug in their chairs,
they watched the flames flicker, no falter in their stares.
Her in her place and him in his,
they sat like two statues under the chandeliers.
When outside the door there arose such a clatter,
neither of them rose to see what was the matter.
The door sprung open, it flew like a flash,
but still neither of them got up to dash.
The leather on the breast of the man who stole the show,
he had reigned above all those who had remained below.
She turned her head slowly to see what had appeared.
When she saw, she said "Come in, my dear."
He waved then smiled, flashing his teeth quick.
He took a step in and gave the door a kick.
He walked inward, toward his seat.
He smiled, thinking of Prozac, who he had beat.
As he sat beside his princess,
what he was thinking, nobody could guess.
He followed their gaze toward the flame.
He knew that this business was no game.
"Are you ready to speak?" she said, looking to him.
He nodded his head slightly, face not at all grim.
He licked his lips, feeling their smooth skin.
The time for him to speak was now wearing thin.
He brushed back his hair so that he could see.
Now the words rung from his mouth. He is talking to thee.
Jordan ~ So, Jake. How does it feel, hmm? To be the first ever NextGen Champion of Xtreme Vicious Intent?
Jake smiled, looking over toward Jordan.
Jake ~ It feels .. good .. to know that all my hard work paid off.
The woman laughs.
Woman ~ Hard work? We saved your ass, remember? The only work you did was breaking that damn fence.
Jordan and Jake both laugh.
Jordan ~ C'mon Seraphina, you know he did good.
Seraphina looks over toward Jake, a thoughtful look in her brown eyes.
Seraphina ~ Yeah, he did.
There is a minute of silence as they all look at the dancing embers leaping around the flames in the limestone fireplace. Then JSeraphina speaks up.
Seraphina ~ So did you, Mister I'm-The-New-Xtreme-Champion.
She and Jake chuckle, but Jordan just smiles.
Jordan ~ Yes, I know I worked hard .. Prozac was a good opponent. Quite good, actually.
Jordan raises his large hand to gingerly touch the small bandage on the right side of his forehead.
Jordan ~ That son of a bitch can really throw a good right hand when he wants to.
All three of them laugh. Jordan stands up and walks over to what seems to be a cabinet of some sort, but when he opens it up you can clearly see it is actually a refrigerator.
He reaches inside, pulling out a tall green bottle of wine. He then closes the door of the refrigerator and walks toward another cabinet. When he opens it, you can see it is filled with wine glasses. He pulls out one, then looks over his shoulder at Jake and Seraphina.
Jordan ~ Anyone else want a glass of red wine?
Jake and Seraphina look over toward Jordan.
Jake ~ Gimme a glass of that stuff.
Seraphina ~ Me too, if you'd please.
Jordan nods and retrieves two more glasses from the cupboard, standing the glass structures upright. He pops the cork out of the bottle of wine, laying it on the table beside the glasses. He pours the blood-like liquid out of the green glass bottle into the glasses.
He fills two of them up, takes one in each hand and escorts them to Jake and Seraphina. They both smile and nod courteously at Jordan.
Seraphina ~ Thank you.
Jake ~ Thanks.
Jordan smiles at the two, then turns and walks back toward the table as they begin to drink the liquid.
He picks the bottle back up and pours himself a glass of the wine, then places the cork back in the top of the bottle. He lays the bottle down on the table and slowly paces toward the window.
The wind was howling outside of it like a lone wolf. It was a stormy night. Snow blew this way and that, in no particular fashion. He gazed out the window into the white curtain which shrouded his view from the outside world.
Jordan ~ Not a good night out there. Not good at all.
Jake stops drinking his wine and looks over to Jordan.
Jake ~ I heard it ain't going to stop until some time tomorrow.
Jordan turns away from the window and walks back to his black leather sofa chair. He sits down squeakily, his leather trench coat rubbing up against the leather on the surface of the seat.
On his ring finger, as always, is that golden band with the deep, blood-red ruby in the center. But now, you notice something. On Seraphina's slender fingers .. is also a golden band, but in it's center is a ocean blue sapphire.
Jordan is wearing his black leather boots, his dark navy blue jeans and his white muscle shirt. Seraphina is wearing a pair of black, straight-legged jeans and a blue strap-shirt. Her hair is a chocolate brown, which mentions her aforementioned brown eyes perfectly. On her feet are a pair of high-heel shoes, which are black with a see-through heel.
Jake, of coarse, was wearing his black leather jacket with a dark navy t-shirt on the inside. He has a pair of dark blue jeans on with a hole right above his knee.
Suddenly, Jordan's cell phone rings. It is on the wooden table that sits beside Jordan's chair. Jordan lays down his glass of wine and picks up the Motorola Razr and flips it open. Jordan looks puzzled.
Jordan ~ It's Mak ..
Seraphina takes the glass away from her lips, speaking angelically, as she always does.
Seraphina ~ He's probably calling to tell you your match for Side Effect.
Jordan presses the 'talk' button on the phone and raises it to his ear.
Jordan ~ Hello? -- Hey Mak. -- Thanks. -- Yeah, I can compete at Side Effect. -- Okay. -- Talk to you soon. -- Bye.
Jordan flips the phone closed and laughs.
Jake ~ What'd boss-man say?
Jordan laughs some more, then turns to Jake and Seraphina with a mocking smile on his face.
Jordan ~ Guess who I'm facing at Side Effect?
Seraphina ~ Who, honey?
Jordan laughs again, then clears his throat loudly.
Jordan ~ Corporal Punishment.
They all laugh. Jake nearly falls off his chair and Seraphina is holding her mid-section. This continues for about a minute. Jordan wipes the tears from his smooth cheeks.
Jake ~ Watch out, he might call you to attention.
They all burst into laughter again. When they stop, Jordan speaks up.
Jordan ~ Wow, this is sad. I win the XTreme championship, and Mak puts me up against the likes of HIM?! What does he expect me to do? It's not like I can train, I'll beat him to a pulp in my current condition.
Seraphina gets to her feet, walking toward the door.
Seraphina ~ I have to go Jor, I got an appointment. I'll call when I'm done, okay?
Jordan nods. Jake gets to his feet as well.
Jake ~ I'm going to go check the website. He probably got me put against some loser like Ritalin for Christ's sake.
They all laugh again.
Jordan ~ Alright then. I'll talk to you two later.
Jordan waits until Seraphina and Jake are gone, then turns toward the camera.
Jordan ~ Be careful Corporal, you never know when The Darkness will get you.
He laughs manically as he stands and walks out the door.
He start to flick through the channels. After all, what else is there to watch on XVI other than the matches, and Jordan and Jake's promos?
| .. I've seen it before, and it still suits you the same. |
