The lights cut off, Casting the arena into darkness. The XVItron comes to life with a field of static that lasts for five seconds... Click... The screen switches to a VNB logo and remains that way for a few seconds, Before slowly fading away... Click... The XVItron goes blank, Casting the arena into a sea of darkness.
And so the first hero moves into position... Unaware of the inevitable conclusion...
Click... The XVItron comes back on and opens on a park, Somewhere in the Tampa Bay area. It is night time, And the only lighting is provided by the scattered light posts, Which serve more as beacons, As opposed to light sources. There is a light breeze, Causing the swings in the playground to sway in the wind. The camera spins around at the sound of a branch breaking and some leaves ruffling. Nothing is seen on the walkway where the sound came from.
It's a funny thing... Nature. So peaceful and so beautiful... Yet possessing such a subtle danger that most are unaware of. You don't have to look much further than nature to learn that looks can be deceiving. In the blink of an eye, A serene landscape can be raped and pillaged by natures scorn.
Hehehe... That is why I am so drawn to it.
The camera starts to move down the path and quickly comes upon a park bench with a huddled form resting on it, Covered by a blanket. It moves ever so slightly, Revealing that is a living form underneath it.
You see... I am one with nature. I am nature. The unseen danger that lurks around the corner. The unpredictable monster that is all around, Waiting for the right moment to strike with a ferocity that dwarfs any efforts or actions of mankind.
For man fights with armies of flesh and blood. Man fights with disposable resources. Mortality being the major downfall. Where as nature fights with an army of elements. Its resources are infinite... Its rage is unrelenting. And you are helpless against it.
The huddled form lurches upright, Causing the blanket to fall to the side. A unshaven bum coughs and reaches for his bottle of whisky. He takes a swig and coughs some more, Before lying back down on the bench and covering himself with the blanket again.
Helpless like this waste of a man that occupies a bench that was intended for the enjoyment for people of better standing in this society. He drowns his sorrows with alcohol. He numbs his senses with booze and dreams of a better life. Pathetic, isn't it? This man will dream of the impossible... Chasing shadows in his dreamlike state, Only to find out that he has no control of his life.
For human nature has deemed him unfit for society. He is an outcast. Held down by the elite who hold all the wealth and power. People like you, Maggot. You use human nature to your advantage. You use it to protect your luxurious life and position of influence. Effective... Against derelicts like this.
The homeless man sits up, Startled by the crack of a branch. Not two seconds after he sits up, A roundhouse kick catches him on the side of the face, Knocking him off the bench and rendering him unconscious on the ground. A sinister laugh is heard as "The Ruler Of ALL", Jihad "The Devil" Sullivan, Steps into focus and sits down on the chair.
Jihad ~ But not so effective against me. Not so effective against men who ignore the silly rules imposed upon us by human nature. For the VNB is above your trivial societal order. We are our own order. We are our own army. An army of elements. Unseen and unequaled in our wrath.
My dear Maggot... The VNB's reach extends farther than you can imagine. We are everywhere. We surround you at every turn... Just like nature.
And so your final battle is upon us. The first of many heroes to fall... But by no means the last. For this is not a war of men. This is a war of opposing natures. A war that cannot be fought with armies of men, Though you may try. Hehehe... I welcome the challenge. Though... It is not, Really even "my" challenge.
But even the most inebriated fool, Like our unconscious friend here, Knows that armies of men are useless. For you will gather your resources. You will gather your arms...
...And you will stand helpless when the storm bears down on you and nature unleashes its fury upon you.
Jihad stands up and begins to walk away. He steps on the homeless man as he passes, And then begins to walk off into the night. But then, He suddenly pauses...
Jihad ~ Maggot... You know the storm I speak of, Don't you? Yes... You know the storm all to well. The storm I speak of is your very own "Fallen Angel", You very own Halo. Oh yes, This upcoming match presents so many possible scenarios. It makes me wonder Maggot, Just what is your "true" nature? Well it be, To lay down for your beloved Halo? No, I seriously doubt that myself. Will it be to destroy your opponent? That is a possibility, But we both know that is an impossibility out side of your own mind. Or, Is your nature just to roll over, Play dead, Pray this match just simply goes away and Halo doesn't show you for the fool you are. And hope, Beyond all hope. That when you awake in the morning, You will find that I have finally grown tired of you, And moved on.
Tell me Maggot...
When you lay in bed at night, Have you thought about the ramifications of this match? Have you thought about just what could possibly happen when you lose to match to Halo? Of course you have... I am sure, That you have thought to yourself. "What happens when Halo sees that I am a fraud, Will she leave me, Will she go to Jihad?"
I have something I want you to do for me Maggot. I want you to close your eyes. And I want you to picture this. Picture you very own Halo, As The VNB's resident Princess, Ruling side by side by yours truly. But Maggot, Why should we stop there?
Tell me Maggot... Can you imagine my hands running all over her warm body as she stands pressed tightly against mine? Yes... I could see the fear in "my" love’s eyes as she lunges forward against my chest, Our faces inches apart. Our breaths mingling together... And in one fluid motion, I lay her across my bed, And her body jerks involuntarily against mine as she lays helpless below me, Attempting to wipe the tears from her eyes.
But Dear Maggot. They would not be tears of pain, Quite the contrary. They would be tears of joy. The look in her eyes, Not fear... But pure lust. Finally Maggot, After all these long years... Our Fallen Angel, Would finally know the feeling of being with a real man.
Once again, The wind has seemed to kick up ever so slightly and Jihad pulls his trench-coat tight around his body.
Jihad ~ It's funny. I truly bet, What I just said is really not what is bothering you is it Maggot? No... What is bothering you is, What has you worried is. Why hasn't my Angel called my bluff? Why hasn't she said that I am wrong? That she would NEVER leave The DOA to join with The VNB? And why, Has she not said... She has no interest whatsoever in being with me, And being my Princess?
HAHA... Yes Maggot, Picture this. My Angel Halo, Running about The Compound Of The VNB, In nothing but a small "School girls outfit", Her long brown pig tails showing, White knee length stockings, Sitting upon my lap. I don't know, Perhaps Maggot, I will send you a Poloroid...
Oh yes Maggot... Nature... It is a wondering thing, And I just cant wait to see how this plays out.
I guess you could say It's nature versus human nature. Where would you place your bet?
I will see you soon, Maggot...
And finally, Jihad once again begins to walk. You hear the leaves rustling under his feet, The twigs breaking... As he walks farther into the night.
Jihad ~ Now... Moving on. I am sure some of you may be wondering, Just what is the point of me walking out here on this mostly lovely night. Well, As always, I have a reason for what I do. Number one, I just simply love the night. But number two, And much much more importantly, My minions within The VNB have alerted me to a visitor here deep within this very park. A visitor, That I would most like to speak with...
Jihad continues to walk. With confidence in his steps, Jihad finally comes to a large clearing. You now see that deep with in this park, Sets a most beautiful lake. Though very small, The lake is breathtaking on this cold night as the full moon shines down. The moons light, Creates what looks to be a rippling effect against the water.
Jihad continues to walk the edge of the lake, Until finally... We see another park bench located just ahead of Jihad. You also see yet another huddled mass perched upon the bench. Jihad, Keeps getting closer and closer to the bench until finally... We see, That a most lovely, And very recognizable female sits upon the bench, Looking out over the lake...
Jihad ~ You know Angel, This isn't exactly a great part of town. If you would have let me known before hand, I could have sent a legion of my followers with you for your own protection. But then again... I am quite sure you need no protection from the likes of the predators that crawl over this park. Anyway, I was told you were here, And I am just curious, What brings you out on a night like this? Surely... You aren't pining away for your Corpse now are you?
Jihad stands patiently by, As he waits for The Dark Halo to respond...
Respond Halo?
And so the first hero moves into position... Unaware of the inevitable conclusion...
