It takes a man, to take a boy as his own. Take him from a degenerate, and turn him into a champion, and one man that could do that with ease. Was "Gentleman" Jerry Garcia. This man took a young child and turned his life around for the better, he helped him settle into a new life, he taught him respect; he even helped him find love.
Then he was cruelly snatched away, in one moment a man so strong became so weak, helpless, giving in to a higher power. Allow him to rest peacefully for eternity.

A grey sky looms over a quite graveyard. Rain falls slowly from the clouds and down to the ground below, as the camera pans down from the sky a gathering of people around a grave can be seen. The people are all dressed in black suits or dresses, they are also wearing long black coats and are all holding black umbrellas above their heads. The camera cuts to a section of the people standing to the side of the grave. A coffin can be seen held over the top of the grave by a cloth and held in place by strong ribbon that is tied to the ground. Next to the coffin stands a row of flowers, each spelling out different words, but the main ones that stand out are his name "Jerry Garcia" and on top of the coffin "Dad". The camera turns its focus to the people standing by the side of the coffin. David Calaz and Jaime Reed can be made out and beside them stands an old woman and a younger man by the side of him, in his arms is a girl no older than 5 or 6 years old. As the rain falls tears also fall down the cheeks of the family and friends of "Gentleman" Jerry Garcia. A priest stands behind the headstone, in his hands is the Holy Bible, he begins to read a few passages from the bible. He looks up from the book after reading a passage and shuts it.

"Gentleman" Jerry Garcia was a great man, a doting father, grandfather and brother so to bid a final farewell to him I ask you all to say your silent prayers and place anything you want him to take along with him to the other side.

People step forward and slowly place roses and other flowers on top of the coffin. His family members go to step forward and say there final goodbyes. As the congresses of people begin to scatter away Calaz's arm is grabbed by the man that was holding the child. Calaz spins around and the man holdout his hand.
~ Richard Garcia ~
Thanks for turning up today, I know what you meant to him and what he meant to you, I mean hey, we were practically brothers right?

Calaz stares at Rich's hand for a while then looks back up to his face. He throws his arms around him and embraces him with a hug. As he pulls away he leaves his hand on Rich's shoulder and stares at him.

Your father...was a great man, a role model, and a man to look up to, he did the industry and his family proud...don't you forget that, OK?

The young child that Rich was holding before runs up to Calaz and pulls on his trouser leg. Calaz looks down to her and she motions for him to pick her up. Calaz does so and she wraps her arms around him.
~ Maddy Garcia ~
Uncle Dave, what are you talking to daddy about?

Calaz looks back at Maddy and then to Rich, they both laugh at how innocent children can be, Calaz passes Maddy to Rich and they both look at the little girl who still looks inquisitive.
~ Richard Garcia ~
We were talking about granddad, and what a good man he was, and how he loved you very, very much

Calaz reaches over and softly pats Maddy on the head then reaches out and shakes Rich's hand.

Dude, I’m gonna get going, me and Becs need to head off, I have a match to prepare for and Jaime is waiting for me over there

Calaz points in Jaime's direction and the two men look over to her, Jaime politely smiles and a wave to them; Maddy rests her head into her fathers shoulder and begins to doze off.
~ Richard Garcia ~
Yeah, you get off mate, I'm gonna have to go as well, this ones a little tired aren’t you?

Maddy nods her head and snuggles up again slowly dropping off to sleep. The two men nod to each other and part ways, Calaz begins walking toward Jaime and as they meet they grab each others hand and turn toward the carpark.
~ Jaime Reed ~
You know, it's funny, as one life tragically ends...another blossoms, I like to think of it that way sometimes, it helps me get through things

They arrive at Calaz's car and as he presses the button to open the door of his custom made black Mazda RX-8 he gets a light tap on the shoulder. He spins around and there waiting with open arms is an old lady, she was last seen standing next to Rich at the grave. Calaz leans in and hugs the ageing woman. She turns her head slightly and talks into his ear.
~ Martha Garcia ~
Thank you, for everything you have done, you gave my Jerry a new lease in life, I know you were there for him in his last days, and I know he is thankful for that, wherever he is right now, and so are we, I'd like to tell you that you are always welcome to stay with us, your part of the Garcia family now

They both lean away from each other and Calaz's eyes start to swell up with tears, he pats the old lady on the shoulders and looks at her with admiration.

Martha reaches up and grabs Calaz's cheeks bringing him down she kisses him on both cheeks and lets go, Calaz climbs in the car and looks at Jaime, she has tears rolling down her face, Calaz shuts the car door and pulls off from the parking space.

Calaz wipes his face clean and nods his head in agreement with Jaime, he reaches over with his hand and grabs hers tight.

I can take your problems away with a nod and a wave
Of my hand, 'cause that's just the kind of boy that I am
The only thing I haven't done yet is die
And it's me and my plus one at the afterlife
Crowds are won and lost and won again
But our hearts beat for the diehards
So long live the car crash hearts
Cry on the couch all the poets come to life
Fix me in 45
