Walking down the streets of Los Angeles, California, Damien Necro and his manager, Nick Duggan are discussing about the tag team match he's about to have at Side Effect this Monday. Damien Necro seems ready and pumped up, but his manager thinks twice about that...
Nick Duggan:
Listen to me, Damien. You were just as confident at the Aftermath than you are today. You just can't be cocky in this business. It doesn't work that way. You need to stay focused. Back in my day, every body knew that cockiness meant a path to a cold, hard loss.
Damien Necro and Nick Duggan looks both ways before crossing the street. They're headed to a local Gym.
Nick Duggan:
It's one thing to be focused, it's another to be cocky. You get nothing out of cockiness. Just a smirk in the face even after your loss. You know why? Because you still think that you can beat that person even after he pins you down for three seconds. Being cocky is just another thing to distract you from being focused and determined.
Damien Necro laughs...
Damien Necro:
Nick, it's not cockiness. It's confidence. You got that? I'm confident I can beat the living hell out of Corporal Punishment and Rachel. Hell, I wish this were a handicap match. I'd beat both up if i wanted to. I'm not complaining though.. I understand Calaz wants a piece of Rachel's gold.. and if he plays his cards right... we'll be succesful in the lon-
Nick Duggan interrupts him.
Nick Duggan:
Cockiness, Confidence. It's the same shit Damien! When we get in to this gym I want you to FOCUS in to this match. No confidence involved, you got that?!
Damien Necro and Nick Duggan enter the gym.
Damien Necro:
Listen, Nick.. Don't worry about me. I'm a multiple time champion in Jap-
Nick Duggan;
That means NOTHING in the XVI! There are far better wrestlers in XVI than in Japan, and don't tell me I'm wrong.. you've been beaten by a few here already! Face it, Damien Necro.. Until you get focused around here, you'll start being just as succesful in the XVI as you were back in Japan.
Damien Necro chuckles. Nick Duggan always has to worry about things. He needs to understand that wrestlers win some, and they lose some. He understands that not every time can he win in a ring. There's got to be times when Damien is unlucky... and he thinks that's all what happened. Bad luck.
Damien Necro:
Listen.. Corporal Punishment hasn't been the best wrestler in XVI either. Hell I think his first match won was just last week. Trust me, I can beat him. And just to do you a favor, I'll focus in to these next couple of matches I have. Okay?
Nick Duggan:
No. I want you to focus on ALL of your future matches. Got it?
Damien Necro nods his head.
Damien Necro:
Have I ever told you?
Nick Duggan thinks for a minute...
Nick Duggan:
What? I don't think you have.
Damien Necro:
You're the best manager any one could ever have.
Nick Duggan doesn't take it as a serious comment.
Nick Duggan:
Go work out, you son of a bitch. And don't stop until convince me that you're focused.
Damien Necro grabs a two boxing gloves and puts them on his hands. He walks toward punching bag, and begins punching it repeatedly.
Damien Necro:
Don't worry about anything, Nick. I've got this match won.
Nick Duggan:
You better have.
The camera zooms out the gym as it fades to black...
Nick Duggan:
